Sonamarg, Jan 2: In a proactive initiative to bolster winter preparedness, a crucial exercise was conducted in Sonamarg under the leadership of CEO of Sonamarg Development Authority (SDA), Ghulam Mohammad Bhat.
The exercise, which took place amid the scenic winter landscape, brought together the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team, medical officers from Ganderbal and representatives from various key departments.
The collaborative effort included participation from the SDA Tourism, Border Roads Organisation (BRO), Forest Department, Wildlife Department, Health Department and Public Health Engineering (PHE).
Local stakeholders, including hoteliers and snow bikers, were engaged to ensure a cohesive approach to tackling potential winter-related challenges that may arise in the region.
The exercise aimed to enhance coordination and establish a swift and unified response mechanism to emergencies to ensure the safety and well-being of both residents and tourists who flock to Sonamarg during the winter season.
Bhat expressed gratitude for the collaboration among various agencies and stakeholders, saying such exercises are vital for creating an effective response strategy that prioritises public safety.
