Enforcement Directorate questions Mehbooba’s mother for 3 hours

Srinagar, Aug 18: Enforcement Directorate (ED) Wednesday questioned Gulshan Nazir, mother of former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president chief Mehbooba Mufti in Srinagar in alleged money laundering case.
The mother of Mehbooba Mufti appeared before the ED. She was accompanied by her daughter Mehbooba Mufti and was questioned for about three hours, officials said.
Pertinently, the ED issued summons on July 6 to the elderly wife of former Union Home Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed, “in connection with a case registered under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002”.
When her mother came out from the ED office, Mehbooba Mufti said that, “The agencies, which were meant to do serious work, have been used against politicians. Unfortunately, politicians, journalists and activists are being punished for speaking truth in ‘Naya Kashmir’.”
She also tweeted saying in New India being summoned by agencies like NIA & ED has become a ritual for whoever disagrees with GOIs divisive agenda & policies. In my mother’s case, the chronology is quite clear.
She said her mother being summoned by the ED “had a chronology”. “As soon as I showed reluctance to meet the Delimitation Commission and staged a protest on August 5, a summon was issued the next day,” she stated. (KNT)
