Jammu and Kashmir, like other parts of the country, is witnessing a rise in the number of miscarriages, which is a grave cause of concern and thus needs the proper care for the women going through the phase of pregnancy. Pregnancy is a crucial phase in a woman’s life that requires utmost care to ensure the well-being of both the mother and the unborn child with the experts focusing on proper prenatal care and a balanced diet. These issues are of vital importance at a time when the number of miscarriages is surging up in Jammu and Kashmir, indicating the lack of awareness or the lack of care during this period. A well-managed pregnancy significantly reduces the risk of complications, supports fetal development and prepares the mother for a smooth childbirth experience. Regular prenatal check-ups help in monitoring fetal growth, detecting potential complications early, providing necessary vaccinations and supplements and educating the mother about labour and postpartum care. The experts have been highlighting the importance of nutrition during pregnancy. The expected mothers should maintain a healthy diet rich in essential nutrients such as folic acid, iron, calcium, protein and omega-3 fatty acids. Staying hydrated and engaging in moderate physical activity is equally important for them as well as the babies inside the womb. These issues need to be dealt with proper care so that the abortions and miscarriages would be reduced to zero in Jammu and Kashmir. But, the people need to show seriousness in this regard and ensure there is no loophole during the period so that things can settle well in the future.
