Rajouri, Feb 14: Jammu and Kashmir Police have recovered six kilograms of suspected high-grade heroin near the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district.
The seized contraband is estimated to be worth over Rs 30 crore in the international market.
Police sources said that the operation was carried out in a forward village in the Nowshera sector based on intelligence inputs provided by two arrested drug peddlers. Sources revealed that the accused, who were nabbed with a drug consignment weeks ago, led investigators to the concealed stash.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the narcotics were smuggled from across the border and hidden at an isolated location.
Authorities suspect a larger cross-border drug network at play and anticipate more arrests and recoveries in the coming days as the probe progresses. [KNT]
