Police solve theft case in Sgr, accused lady held

Srinagar, Aug 23: Police in Srinagar on Monday claimed to have solved a theft case by arresting an accused person involved in the commission of crime and said that stolen property worth lakhs have been recovered from her possession.
A police spokesman in a statement, said that on 21-08-2021, PP Ahmad Nagar received a written complaint from one person namely Ghulam Jeelani Khan, son of Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Khan of Kokerbagh Malbagh Soura, stating there in that some unknown person/persons have stolen golden ornaments from his residential house.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR number 91/2021 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Soura and investigation was initiated, police said.
“A special investigation team headed by I/C PP Ahmad Nagar ASI Mohammad Amin along with SHO PS Soura under the supervision of SDPO Hazratbal Shafat Mohammad Najar was constituted,” police said, adding that during the course of investigation, officers taking assistance of modern techniques and utilising services of FSL zeroed in on one suspect lady.
“During questioning, the suspected lady accepted her involvement in the commission of crime. Subsequently, she has been arrested and shifted to Women Police Station where she remains in custody,” police spokesman said.
On her disclosure, the investigating team were able to recover stolen property worth almost 60 lakh which includes Golden necklaces, Sume, Jumer Balwala, Ear rings, Golden Coins, Golden Biscuits, Golden Pen drive, Golden Rings, Chain, Ear rings, Amulet heavy, Wrist Watchs, Tissots, etc. Further investigation is in progress.
Meanwhile, police said that the efforts should assure community members that police is resolved to act tough against the individuals involved in criminal activities.
