Srinagar, Feb 28: Education Minister Sakeena Masood Itoo Friday said that winter vacations for all classes in Kashmir schools have been extended till March-6.
Itoo said, “Keeping in view the prevalent weather conditions, the government has decided to extend the winter vacation for all government and recognised private schools of Kashmir region.
Itoo said, “The schools in the Valley will reopen on March-7 instead of March-01.”
The minister further said that in case any student enrolled for the board exams couldn’t reach the exam centre, the government will make sure that it will conduct their exam later.
Meanwhile, the authorities have extended winter vacation for all schools in the Gurez Valley of north Kashmir till March-8.
The decision comes in wake of heavy snowfall, and prevailing weather conditions across Jammu and Kashmir.
“Due to severe weather, movement of students and school staff has been disrupted. The decision to extend winter vacation has been taken for the wellbeing and safety of students and staff,” an official said.
He said that heads of all institutions within the subdivision have been directed to ensure compliance with the extended winter vacation schedule.
In the meantime, following the bad weather conditions, JKBOSE also postponed all exams of 10th to 12th classes scheduled on March-01 and March-03 in hard zones.
JKBOSE in an order said, “In view of inclement weather, the examinations for classes 10th, 11th and 12th scheduled to be held on 01-03-2025 and 03-03-2025 as per date sheet already issued, are hereby postponed and rescheduled.”
The board said that the examinations that were earlier scheduled to be held on March-01 for classes 10th and 11th will be held on March-25. In case of 12th standard, the examinations that were scheduled to be held on March-01 will be held on March-24.
JKBOSE in the meantime further said that the time and venue of the examinations will remain unchanged. (KNO)
