Jammu, Mar 12: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Wednesday said that seven Water Supply Schemes in Pampore constituency haven’t been made functional due to the dispute with land owners and despite depleting water level, it provides safe water to the public.
Replying to a question of Justice Hasnain Masoodi, Minister for Jal Shakti said that 4629 households are getting drinking water in Awantipora block, 2411 in Kakapora, 632 in Newa and 9547 in Pampore.
He said that some of the borewells & overhead tanks have not been made functional owing to disputes with land owners in PHE Division Awantipora.
These schemes include WSS Wuyan (Green Land), WSS Gundbal Androosa, WSS Chatlam Lalpora, WSS Lethpora-B, WSS Lethpora-C, WSS Syed Qasim Colony and WSS Bonibagh Lelhar.
Regarding WSS Lelhar, he said that the land owner did not allow the department to lay the 125 mm Rising Main through his land and approached Court for land compensation. The matter is being pursued for vacation of stay, the reply reads.
Regarding WSS Lethpora B, WSS Gundbal Androsa and WSS Syed Qasim Colony Khrew, he said that the department is examining/scrutinizing the land compensation cases.
Regarding WSS Wuvan (Green land), he said that Bore well has been explored and OHT is also complete and land compensation case is being examined while at WSS Lethpora A, there is no issue and work is in progress.
“Although water level is depleting but the department is providing safe drinking water to the public. However, to meet out any shortage of drinking water tanker services are provided to the general public on need basis,” he said. (KNO)
