After a long lull, the public grievances have got a solution once again with the government deciding to re-activate the enforcement wing for intensifying market checking in Jammu and Kashmir. But, the action against the people selling the eatables and other stuff at exorbitant rates continued to elude, thereby landing the common masses, especially the poor to lurch at large. In such a situation, it makes no sense for the common masses to have an enforcement wing when the action is being delayed for their wellbeing as they expected the intensified market checking to ensure the rates are adhered in letter and spirit. One fails to understand the reasons behind re-activating the enforcement wing when the teams constituted under it are not even bothering to visit the markets amidst the ongoing month of Ramadhan when the people claim to be witnessing the rise in the prices of essentials within the markets. The re-activation of the wing seems to have stopped the work as if it lacks the powers to make the shopkeepers and the traders accountable in their job. The enforcement wing has the responsibility to come up to the expectations of people by visiting the markets frequently ahead of the Eid, when the people throng the markets to buy the essentials. The market checking at this juncture needs to be intensified in every nook and corner of Jammu and Kashmir to help the common masses, especially the poor people to buy essentials on fixed rates, which would simultaneously bring respite to them.
