Kashmir’s soul incomplete without Noon Chai

The mysterious deaths in the Badhaal area of Rajouri continued to remain under investigation while the matter has been raised in the ongoing Legislative Assembly yet again, raising hopes among the people, who lost their dear ones early this year. 17 people lost their lives due to the unknown disease, which led to the massive preventive measures by the government and formation of the different committees including Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Police to probe the deaths. However, despite more than two months, no concrete results have come to the fore so far with the government claiming that no communicable disease was behind the deaths. The legislators, however, raised the issue in the Assembly and demanded a probe by Central Bureau Investigation (CBI) in this regard. The issue is critical in nature given the involvement of loss of precious lives. The government has informed the House that a judicial probe should be held in case of Kulgam deaths “if the victims’ families desired so and if that could address their apprehensions.” Responding to media queries outside the House, the Minister for Health and Medical Education said that they assured the bereaved families that they were solidly behind them in this hour of grief and are committed to provide every possible assistance to them. Therefore, the time calls for urgent action in this regard and ensure that the investigation is paced up and the reasons behind the loss of precious lives are made public. The families, who have lost their dear ones, deserve the answers and thus they should get the reply from the government by probing the matter without any further delay.
