Filling vacancies with priority

What is more troublesome in Jammu and Kashmir is the huge vacancies left in different departments, especially in the health sector, which has been simultaneously affecting the healthcare facilities to the people at a time when the government claims that the sector is the topmost priority for them. As many as 11,500 vacancies across various departments have been filled in the past two years, but the figures provided by the government indicate that more than 30,000 posts are lying vacant in different departments across the Union Territory. The huge number of vacancies in the different departments points towards their functioning, which is leading to the sufferings of the people in Jammu and Kashmir. Despite the government’s recent efforts to fill vacancies, the impact of this shortage is far-reaching. While the filling of 11,500 vacancies is a positive move, it is crucial that more attention is paid to the healthcare sector, which is arguably the most urgent. A coordinated effort to address this manpower crisis is essential to ensure that every citizen has access to quality healthcare services. The government must prioritize recruitment in the health sector, expedite the hiring process, and provide incentives to attract skilled professionals to the region.
