Chairperson DDC Pulwama takes review of District Capex

Pulwama, Apr 12: Chairperson, District Development Council (DDC) Pulwama, Syed Abdul Bari Andrabi, Saturday chaired the General Council meeting at Circuit House Pulwama to review the progress of developmental works undertaken under the District Capex Budget 2024–25.
At the outset, the Chief Planning Officer (CPO) Pulwama presented a comprehensive overview of the projects completed in the previous financial year. The presentation covered progress across key sectors including Minor Irrigation, Roads and Buildings (R&B), Elementary and Secondary Education, Health, Youth Services & Sports, Public Health Engineering (PHE), Aspirational Block Development Schemes and Aspirational Panchayat Development Schemes.
The meeting was informed that the total approved outlay for 2024–25 stands at Rs. 8471.57 lakh. Funds available up to the end of March 2025 amounted to Rs. 7299.70 lakh, while expenditure incurred amounts to Rs. 6141.36 lakhs, reflecting an impressive 84.13% expenditure against the available funds, which is among the highest in the UT.
During the meeting, Chairperson DDC undertook a detailed review of the physical and financial status of works executed under the District Capex and other development schemes. He emphasised the timely completion of all approved works and urged officers to ensure 100% fund utilisation to prevent any lapses.
He also underscored the need for transparency and accountability in the implementation of all projects.
While reviewing the functioning of the Rural Development Department (RDD), Chairperson advised the Block Development Officers (BDOs) to focus on effective convergence with departments such as Horticulture, Floriculture, Sericulture, and Youth Services & Sports. He particularly stressed the need for the augmentation and beautification of Amrit Sarovars and urged BDOs to ensure the development of at least one functional Amrit Sarovar per block.
The meeting was attended by the members of DDC, Assistant Commissioner Development, Pulwama; Chief Education Officer, Pulwama; Joint Director Planning (CPO), Pulwama; Block Development Officers and Officers of other departments.
The meeting concluded with a call for enhanced inter-departmental coordination and community involvement to achieve tangible results on the ground.
