Keep Kashmir connected

The tragic deaths that occurred due to the mysterious disease has continued to remain a mystery as there has been no outcome in this regard by the number of committees and teams formed to ascertain the facts that claimed the lives in Budhaal area of Rajouri last year. The mysterious disease claimed over a dozen lives from December 2024 to January 2025, but what remains unverified is the cause behind the loss of lives. Interestingly, the delay in ascertaining the facts is being witnessed despite the formation of multiple committees and the teams by the Jammu and Kashmir government itself and the Centre as well. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted in this regard, too has failed to bring any facts to the fore despite the elapsing of 126 days. Although the normalcy has returned to the village, the grief of losing loved ones lingers, and pressing questions about the incident remain unanswered. As per the media reports, the victims, mostly innocent children, are believed to have been poisoned, but key details—such as the source of the toxin and where the children were brought from—continue to evade authorities. The people of Budhaal and the wider state are demanding answers, waiting for clarity on these suspicious deaths. At this juncture, the teams constituted should hold back-to-back meetings in this regard and share their findings with each other so that it may help in bringing out any outcome. The people living in the village, especially those who lost their beloved ones need to be answered and thus the teams should work hard and ascertain the facts in this regard.
