Pahalgam horse rider dies protecting tourists; CM assures support to family

Srinagar, Apr 23: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday said that a local horse rider, Adil Shah, was killed in a terrorist attack in Pahalgam while heroically attempting to save the lives of tourists.
Speaking to reporters, the chief minister that words fall short to condemn the attack. “We express our solidarity with the individuals who were killed and injured. Our guests, who arrived from various places to enjoy their holidays, have tragically been sent back in coffins,” he said.
Omar identified the local horse rider, Adil, who was earning a living in Pahalgam. “As he went out to do his job, he returned home in a coffin,” he said.
The chief minister said Adil showed bravery during the attack, “Adil lost his life while trying to save tourists and even attempted to disarm the terrorists, which is why he was targeted and killed,” he said.
Omar added, “We must take care of Adil’s family. I want to assure everyone that we stand with them during this difficult time, and we will do everything possible to support them.”
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, along with his advisor Nasir Aslam Wani, Minister Javed Dar, and MLA Altaf Kuloo, also participated in the funeral on Wednesday afternoon.
