Srinagar, Apr 25: The High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh has permitted the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) to file challans manually in all criminal courts across the Union Territories for a period of three months. The order follows a formal request made by the Director of ACB.
The directive, issued by Registrar General Shahzad Azeem, instructs that while manual submission is allowed temporarily, ACB officials must upload the corresponding charge-sheets into the Court Information System (CIS) under the supervision of court staff. This measure aims to ensure proper documentation and timely digital entry during the interim period.
The High Court has also directed the ACB to upgrade its software systems to prevent such disruptions in the future. Importantly, charge-sheets pertaining to the current calendar year are still required to be filed via the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS) platform.
The temporary shift to manual filing highlights the need for synchronized technological integration between investigating agencies and the judiciary, particularly in sensitive and time-bound cases like those handled by the ACB. (KINS)
