PM writes history, connects Kashmir with rest of country

Srinagar, May 20: Terming war as no option and solution to nothing, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chief Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday urged the government to declare shelling-hit areas across Jammu and Kashmir as ‘war impacted zones’ besides giving status of martyrs to those who lost their lives in Pakistan shelling.
Addressing a news conference here Mehbooba said that the situation in shelling hit areas is quite worse. “Many of the families who lost their shelters in the Pakistan shelling are still living under open sky. Even they have not provided the tents yet,” she said.
She added that in Mendhar, the affected families have not been even visited by the officials so far. “Nobody has been provided the compensation and relief yet,” she said.
Mehbooba also said that the shelling affected areas should be declared as ‘war impacted zones’ while those who lost their lives should be given a status of martyrs.
“The government should provide a compensation of Rs 50 lakh each to the affected families and all the houses and shops that have been hit by the shelling or got damaged should be given monetary relief at the earliest,” she added.
Furthermore while replying to a query, she said that those advocating for the war should live along with their families in the borders areas to see the impact of war. (KNO)
