Parliamentary Panel visits Jammu

Jammu, Jun 28: A delegation of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Personnel, Public Grievances, Law and Justice, headed by BJP Rajya Sabha MP Brij Lal, arrived in Jammu on Saturday to engage with stakeholders, review the progress of key development projects, and address public concerns.
The committee’s visit, which includes interactions in both Jammu and Srinagar, aims to gain firsthand insight into the challenges faced by the people and to explore solutions for better governance and service delivery.
“We are here to assess public grievances and evaluate how effectively the government and public sector undertakings are functioning. Around 6-7 Members of Parliament are currently in Jammu, while the remaining members will join us in Srinagar,” said Brij Lal.
As part of its itinerary, the delegation will visit the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine to assess facilities for pilgrims and hold discussions with the shrine board officials. “One of the key focuses is to understand the issues devotees face and examine what improvements are being made,” Brij Lal noted.
The committee will also conduct review meetings with key public sector undertakings such as Punjab National Bank, Power Grid Corporation, and others to monitor the implementation of various public service initiatives. In Srinagar, the MPs will engage with state government officials and stakeholders to review developmental progress.
In addition to reviewing domestic governance issues, Brij Lal spoke about Operation Sindoor, a high-precision military strike by India targeting terrorist camps in Pakistan following the killing of 26 civilians in Pulwama. He highlighted the international support received for the operation, which was executed after giving Pakistan a 15-day ultimatum.
“When we visited other countries as part of an all-party delegation, we explained how 26 innocent people were singled out based on religion and killed in front of their families. The Prime Minister had vowed that the perpetrators would be punished. Operation Sindoor was carried out with precision, and it was appreciated globally for its effectiveness in dismantling terrorist infrastructure,” he said.
Brij Lal also mentioned that the committee may visit Pahalgam as part of its Kashmir leg, depending on the schedule and logistics.
The visit underlines the committee’s dual focus—addressing grassroots-level grievances while reinforcing national narratives on security and governance. (KINS)
