Srinagar, Jun 30: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday said the government has made all the arrangements for smooth conduct of Amarnath Yatra.
Speaking to reporters, CM Omar said that they hope and pray for the safe and smooth conduct of the yatra.
“The Lieutenant Governor chaired meetings with political parties and civil society members and assured adequate security arrangements are in place for the yatris,” he said after addressing the Buyer-Seller Meet–2025 held at SKICC.
He added they are now waiting for yatris, who will be flagged-off from Jammu tomorrow. “We hope they turn up in large numbers and pray that they return home safely,” CM Omar said.
Amarnath Yatra will commence from July 3 in Jammu and Kashmir amid multi-layered security arrangements.
Pertinently, the Chief Minister, who was a chief guest at the Buyer-Seller Meet–2025, said that through such events, the government is striving to revive the historic connection between Kashmir’s artisans and the global market by rebuilding the direct relationship between creators and customers.
Reflecting on the significance of the meet, the Chief Minister said that there was a time when such Buyer-Seller Meets were not needed. “Tourists from across the globe would come to Kashmir and naturally become buyers. Today, through initiatives like this, we are trying to revive that connection—to bring the buyers back and reestablish the relationship between creators and customers.”
He emphasized that the event is not a one-off showcase.
“Under the scheme, we are committed to organizing six regular Buyer-Seller Meets and six reverse meets. These will ensure sustained engagement and provide deeper market access for our artisans and entrepreneurs,” he said. (KNO)
