Jammu, Jul 5: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Information Technology, Transport, Youth Services and Sports, Satish Sharma, expressed deep concern over a multiple-vehicle accident involving the Amarnathji Yatra convoy in Ramban district early Saturday.
Upon receiving reports of the mishap, Sharma closely monitored the situation, coordinating with Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Alyas Khan and Managing Director JKRTC, Rakesh Sarangal.
Sharma directed the Regional Transport Officer Jammu, S. Jasmeet Singh and other senior officers, to work with health officials and emergency services to provide immediate relief and medical attention to the injured pilgrims. “It is with profound concern that I have been following the developments related to the unfortunate collision involving our Yatris,” Sharma said.
“My thoughts and prayers are with all the injured. I am relieved that most injuries are minor and all the affected individuals have received prompt medical attention, added the Minister.”
Sharma has ordered a thorough investigation to determine the exact cause behind the tragic accident. “The safety and well-being of our pilgrims remain our topmost priority. Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, the government of Jammu and Kashmir is committed towards ensuring a safe and smooth Yatra experience for every devotee, maintained the Minister.”
Sharma assured that the administration and the concerned departments would remain vigilant and responsive throughout the Yatra period, with heightened coordination between transport, health and law enforcement agencies for welfare of the pilgrims.
