Budgam, Jul 10: Residents of Surasyar and Dadaompora on Thursday staged a protest at their respective villages over the deplorable condition of the Hanjura-Brenwar road, which has remained unattended since 2017.
Locals said that they have repeatedly raised the issue through protests, urging the administration to macadamize the road, but their pleas have fallen on deaf ears.
The residents, including elderly people, patients and women especially pregnant women continue to suffer due to the poor condition of the road, which is riddled with potholes and poses serious safety risks.
The protest was also joined by former Agriculture Minister and ex-MLA Charar-i-Sharief, Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura.
While speaking to the media, Hanjura criticized the government, stating, “National Conference government has been in power for the last nine months, claiming to be focused on development. But the ground reality tells a different story—there’s no visible progress, and people continue to suffer.”
The protesters urged the district administration and concerned authorities to take immediate steps to repair and macadamize the road before the situation worsens further.
