Srinagar, Apr 22: Amid the steep spurt of Covid-19 cases in Kashmir, many districts in the valley are registering 100 per cent active positive cases outside containment zones.
Moreover, Kulgam district has the highest fatality rate followed by district Baramulla and Anantnag. Besides district Anantnag has done a minimum number of tests per million population in the last two weeks.
As per an official document, divisional administration expressed displeasure over the fact that the majority of active positive cases are outside containment zones and even 100 per cent in some districts.
In this regard, divisional administration passed an order to all districts to notify new micro containment zones and also ensure 100 per cent testing of all eligible populations within these zones in three days.
All district administrations were also directed to comply with the fundamental principle of 1500 tests per million population per day with 50 per cent of total tests through RT-PCR besides that direction were also passed to test all vulnerable sections and enhance the testing of symptomatic cases.
District Anantnag has done a minimum number of tests (13550) per million population during last two weeks followed by district Baramulla (18010) and district Kupwara (18909).
District Kulgam has the highest Case Fatality Rate (1.87%) followed by District Baramulla (1.85 %) and District Anantnag (1.83%). District Shopian, Kupwara, Anantnag and Baramula have tested only 169, 273, 376 & 418 symptomatic cases respectively during last two weeks,
District Budgam, Anantnag Baramula have not tested 337, 162 & 43 RAT negative symptomatic patients respectively by RT-PCR and District Kulgam has done only 17 per cent of total tests through RT-PCR and district Baramulla (19.2%).
The Divisional administration of Kashmir has also taken a serious note of the case of high Case Fatality Rate (CFR) in districts of Baramulla, Kulgam and Anantnag and direction the concerned districts to take necessary steps to improve upon it.
Moreover, as per the document, there is minimal bed occupancy in majority of district hospitals within Covid designated facilities and unnecessary referrals are being done.
Taking serious note of minimal bed occupancy in the majority of districts within Covid designated facilities, the divisional administration directed districts to ensure that the Covid patients are admitted in their respective districts and unnecessary referrals should be avoided any in any case of unnecessary referrals due course of action shall be initiated.
PrincipalS of GMC Anantnag and Baramulla were also directed to ensure that 80 designated beds are dedicated for Covid-19 patients in both the medical college hospitals.
Furthermore, some districts are not putting in SRS number upon the samples of RT-PCR, many others aren’t sorting the samples block wise and some are sending leaky samples, thus making the job of labs very difficult, the document reads.
Divisional administration directed the HODs to communicate with communicate with the concerned CMOs and explain the issues to them and also directed HODs of Labs not to accept any such sample from next week.
The HODs of Labs were directed to do necessary arrangements for the accommodation of night staff to enhance the work capacity of the labs, patients, including the patients who have developed symptoms/complications.
“All DCs/CMOs were directed to manage the timely availability of Ambulance services for COVID-19 patients,” the document reads.
Moreover, all manufacturers/suppliers of medical oxygen were directed to reserve 50 per cent of their capacity to meet out the demand of Government Health Care.
