Sopore, Jul 24:The inaugural ceremony of the 3rd and final phase of the Induction Training Program for newly promoted headmasters was held Thursday at Government Higher Secondary School Sopore. The event marked the commencement of a crucial capacity-building initiative aimed at equipping newly promoted school heads with the necessary skills, orientation, and understanding of their evolving leadership roles.
The ceremony was jointly chaired by Syed Shabir Ahmad, Joint Director, SCERTJK Kashmir Division, and Hakeem Tanvir Ahmad, Joint Director, School Education Department (SED) North Kashmir.
The program is being conducted by the School Leadership Academy – SCERT-JK Kashmir Division, in collaboration with DIET Sopore, and hosts participants from the North Kashmir districts of Baramulla, Bandipora, and Kupwara.
In his keynote address, Syed Shabir Ahmad emphasized the importance of such training programs, stating that “It is essential to orient the newly promoted Headmasters to the dynamics and challenges of the leadership role they are about to take on.” He stressed that the transition from a teacher to a leader requires both administrative insight and pedagogical vision.
Hakeem Tanvir Ahmad, in his remarks, underlined the collaborative role of school heads in ensuring effective schooling and improving student learning outcomes. He appreciated the structured efforts being undertaken under the banner of the School Leadership Academy and encouraged the participants to fully engage with the program to enhance their professional competencies.
Earlier, Ashok Kumar Raina, Principal DIET Sopore, formally welcomed the participants and dignitaries, and highlighted the significance of the program in building leadership capacity across the school system in the region.
The ongoing training program represents a continuing commitment of the School Education Department and SCERT-JK to build strong instructional leadership at the school level and enhance the quality of education delivery across the Union Territory.
