Srinagar, Sep 11: The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha on Saturday said that the administration was trying to vaccinate all students and staff of colleges across the UT to resume the academics at the earliest.
Sinha said, “We are trying to vaccinate the students above 18 years of age, the professors and the teachers in academic institutions so that we will be ready to resume education in college.”
Speaking on the side-lines of an event at SKICC on the banks of famous Dal Lake here, the LG Sinha said: “A special vaccination drive is being conducted in this regard.”
In the meantime, the LG during the event said that the assessment and accreditation process was an important factor to maintain the quality of education in the higher educational institutions of J&K.
The administration led by Sinha earlier this week had said that it was mulling to re-open all colleges and universities in Kashmir after vaccinating students above 18-years of age.
On Friday, the Higher Education Department said that the colleges in Jammu and Kashmir will resume in-person education with specific permission of the concerned deputy Commissioners.
The officials of the Higher Education Department had informed that “Colleges in Jammu and Kashmir will be gradually resuming the physical academic activities from Monday. Some of the colleges will start functioning from Monday and very soon all the colleges will resume in-person academics.”
