With the passage of time, the Kashmir Valley is witnessing the availability of high-quality fruits at affordable prices. In the past, only a few varieties of fruits were common—some grown locally, such as apples, pears, and cherries, while others like oranges, bananas, grapes, and melons were imported from other states at higher prices. Thanks to the rapid advancement in cutting-edge technologies, both the horticulture and agriculture sectors are thriving. As a simple rule: more production leads to lower prices, while low production causes prices to rise.
Smart and vigilant individuals take their health seriously, observe any abnormality in their body, and consult doctors when needed. They also maintain a healthy diet, which is essential for well-being.
Why is diet so important for good health?
Almighty Allah has created human beings and, alongside, everything needed for their survival. Our bodies require a wide variety of foods rich in essential nutrients. Eating the same food every day can lead to nutritional deficiencies and digestive issues.
A human body is composed of around 36 trillion cells—the basic structural and functional units of life. To keep these cells healthy, we need a balanced diet. Different organs in the body—like the skin, eyes, hair, teeth, and stomach—require different nutrients for proper functioning.
No single food item contains all essential nutrients. For example:
Carrots are rich in vitamin A, which supports eye health.
Collard greens are high in fiber and help with digestion.
Fish is loaded with omega-3 fatty acids and supports heart health.
Pulses are rich in protein and support muscle growth.
Water keeps us hydrated and helps with bowel movements.
Let’s talk about Papaya
In recent times, especially after the watermelon controversy in Kashmir, papaya has become a household name. This sweet, tropical fruit is now trending across the Valley and is often sold in poly bags during winter.
Papaya is cultivated in Indian states such as Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat. With increasing awareness of its health benefits, papaya is becoming more popular than ever.
Top 10 health benefits of Papaya

Papaya is packed with antioxidants like vitamin A and C, which promote collagen production, make the skin radiant, and reduce wrinkles.

Improves mood and brain function
Papaya contains folate (vitamin B9), which is vital for brain health and mood regulation. Eating it regularly can enhance cognitive function and emotional well-being.
Protects eye health
Rich in beta-carotene and vitamin A, papaya supports good vision and reduces the risk of age-related eye disorders.

Papain, an enzyme in papaya, helps break down proteins and promotes smooth digestion.
