Srinagar, Aug 11: Two Jammu and Kashmir Police Sub-Inspectors were killed, while another was injured in a road accident in the Nowgam area of Srinagar during the intervening night of August 10–11, officials said on Monday.
Officials said the trio was travelling in a speeding KIA vehicle (JK21H-1919) from Srinagar to Jammu after completing their Amarnath Yatra duty.
They said at Tengen Bypass, near Nowgam, the driver lost control over his vehicle and the car hit a road divider, leaving them seriously wounded. “They were rushed to hospital, where doctors declared two of them as brought dead, while the third is undergoing treatment,” officials added.
The deceased were identified as PSI Sachin Verma of 23 Bn IRP (posted at Pantha Chowk) and PSI Shubam Seth of 21 Bn IRP (posted at Awantipora). The injured has been identified as PSI Mastan Singh of 23 Bn IRP.
Meanwhile, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed deep grief: “Anguished by tragic road accident in Nowgam, Srinagar. It is deeply saddening that two PSIs Sachin Verma and Shubam Seth have lost their lives. We will never forget their exemplary service to the nation. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. The nation stands firm with them during this hour of grief,” he shared earlier today.
Cabinet Minister Satish Sharma also condoled the loss: “Deeply pained by the tragic loss of PSI Sachin Verma and PSI Shubham Seth, who lost their lives in a road accident at Tengan, Lasjan while travelling from Srinagar to Jammu.
