Srinagar, Aug 12: The Jammu and Kashmir Anti Corruption Bureau on Tuesday filed a chargesheet against a former Naazir of Tehsil Office Khag in a bribery case before the Court of Additional Special Anti-Corruption Judge Srinagar.
Officials said the chargesheet pertains to FIR No. 14/2023 registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 against Fayaz-ud-din Shora, then posted as Naazir (Senior Assistant) at Tehsil Office Khag, Budgam.
The FIR was lodged on August 3, 2023, following a written complaint alleging that the accused demanded ₹2000 from a complainant for listing his under-trial property dispute case before the Executive Magistrate 1st Class, Khag. Acting on the complaint, ACB laid a trap and caught the official red-handed while accepting the bribe. The tainted money was recovered on the spot and chemical tests confirmed the presence of phenolphthalein powder on the accused’s hands.
Investigations established the commission of the offence under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. After obtaining sanction for prosecution from the competent authority, the chargesheet was produced in court for judicial determination. [KNT]
