Baramulla, Aug 28: On the occasion of Hajipir Day, the Indian Army on Thursday hoisted a towering 72-feet-high national flag at the historic Cheetah Post in Uri, Baramulla, to honour the valour and sacrifice of soldiers who captured the Hajipir Pass during the 1965 war.
The Army said the ceremony symbolised the courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment of Indian soldiers. The event was organised by the Dagger Division in collaboration with the Flag Foundation of India.
The Chinar Corps Commander unfurled the national flag at the post, which overlooks Baramulla town and the Jhelum River. The ceremony featured a performance by the Army band and cultural presentations by children from local schools, creating an atmosphere of patriotism and unity.
“The programme, conducted under the aegis of Baramulla Rashtriya Rifles, highlighted the strong bond between the Army and the local population,” the Army said.
Civil dignitaries from Baramulla, senior officials from the administration, and personnel from various security forces were also in attendance, making the occasion a memorable tribute to national pride and unity.
