Srinagar, Sep 15: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday praised the Armed Forces for the success of Operation Sindoor and urged the Ministry of Defence to accelerate steps towards greater self-reliance, innovation, and preparedness to tackle future security challenges.
The Prime Minister was addressing the 16th Combined Commanders’ Conference (CCC) at Vijay Durg, the historic Eastern Command headquarters of the Army at Fort William. The three-day conference brings together India’s top military leadership to deliberate on security challenges, operational readiness, and long-term reforms.
Reviewing reforms undertaken over the last two years, Modi laid emphasis on building upon the progress made and charting the roadmap for the next phase. He also unveiled the Indian Armed Forces Vision 2047, a strategic blueprint designed to shape the future trajectory of the Armed Forces as India approaches its centenary of independence.
According to an official statement, the Prime Minister was given a detailed briefing on the operational readiness of the forces in the backdrop of the “new normal” created by Operation Sindoor, and on evolving warfare shaped by emerging technologies and modern tactics.
“The Prime Minister complimented the Armed Forces for the success of Operation Sindoor,” the statement said.
Operation Sindoor was launched in May this year following the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed 26 lives. The operation marked a major counter-terror initiative and reinforced the coordinated response capabilities of the security forces.
The high-level conference is being attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh, along with senior commanders of the Army, Navy, and Air Force. (KINS)
