Jammu, Oct 1: Northern Railway’s Jammu Division has generated revenue of around Rs 30 lakh in September 2025, through intensive ticket checking drives, officials said on Wednesday.
Officials have said that 5,436 passengers were apprehended for irregular or ticketless travel during the month-long drive.
The fines were collected under the supervision of Divisional Railway Manager Vivek Kumar and led by Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal.
Railway authorities said surprise inspections are also being carried out regularly to curb unauthorized entry of passengers and to ensure better travel services for genuine rail users.
“The division’s checking staff has performed exceptionally well in apprehending illegal travelers and imposing appropriate fines on them. This demonstrates the success of the railway’s crackdown on illegal travel,” said Uchit Singhal, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Jammu Division.
Meanwhile, in a statement, Uchit Singhal, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, said that during the ticket checking drive in September 2025, the division’s checking staff and Chief Ticket Inspectors apprehended 5,436 passengers for irregular travel and collected fines of approximately Rs 30 lakh.
Railway officials also conduct regular surprise ticket checking drives to prevent unauthorized entry of passengers onto trains, where passengers are advised to travel with valid tickets.
