Ladakh, Oct 4: The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has scaled new heights by constructing the world’s highest motorable road at Mig La Pass, at an altitude of 19,400 feet. With this, the BRO has once again broken its own Guinness World Record, previously held at Umling La (19,024 ft).
The milestone was achieved by Project Himank under the command of Brig Vishal Srivastava, Chief Engineer, whose team unfurled the National and BRO flag at the pass, marking a defining moment in India’s road-building history.
The Likaru–Mig La–Fukche road is more than just an engineering marvel. It forms a critical third axis from Hanle to Fukche, enhancing strategic mobility for border defence while also paving the way for tourism to flourish in Ladakh’s remote frontiers. Adventurers and visitors can now witness breathtaking panoramas of the Indus Valley from the world’s highest drivable point.
Globally, the BRO now holds 11 of the top 14 records for the highest motorable passes, underlining its unmatched expertise in taming some of the planet’s toughest terrains.
The Indian Army saluted the achievement, calling it a shining example of “engineering excellence, national spirit, and unwavering dedication to nation-building.
