Jammu, Oct 7: Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Chowdhary on Tuesday expressed strong confidence in the Supreme Court, stating that he believes justice will prevail and Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood will be restored. He accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of hypocrisy, saying the party “divided the state of Maharaja Hari Singh while pretending to honour him.”
Addressing reporters, Chowdhary said, “We have full faith in the Supreme Court. We did not celebrate when the abrogation was done because we respect the Constitution and believe in the rule of law. The BJP, on one hand, installs statues of Maharaja Hari Singh and, on the other, is responsible for dividing his state. This is pure hypocrisy.”
The Deputy Chief Minister further said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are hopeful that the Supreme Court will take a just view and restore the state’s constitutional status. (KNT)
