Srinagar, Oct 16: Ahead of Diwali and the upcoming festive season, security forces have increased surveillance and patrolling along the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border (IB) in Jammu and Kashmir, officials said on Thursday.
An official said that BSF is working in close coordination with the Indian Army to monitor the LoC effectively. “So far this year, forces have foiled two infiltration attempts. Advanced surveillance tools and equipment have strengthened control over sensitive border areas,” he added.
Another official said that the heightened vigilance covers key sectors including North Kashmir’s Gurez, Uri, Karnah, Tangdhar, and Sunderbani in Jammu. “Along the International Border, BSF personnel are maintaining a close watch through round-the-clock patrolling, digital surveillance, and other measures to prevent disturbances,” he added.
“Troops have stepped up surveillance and patrolling along the LoC. Forces are alert and ready to respond swiftly to any infiltration attempts,” the official said.
Another senior official said that all necessary resources have been deployed and advanced technology is being leveraged to maintain full control. “The Indian Army has installed smart fencing systems at critical points and deployed robotic surveillance devices to provide real-time intelligence across difficult terrain,” he said.
Officials said quadcopters and drones equipped with high-resolution cameras and night vision capabilities are being used extensively for continuous monitoring. Bulletproof vehicles and all-terrain transport allow troops to move quickly across challenging areas, ensuring rapid deployment when needed.
The officials added that troops regularly undergo training drills simulating infiltration attempts, bunker attacks, and coordinated responses to maintain operational readiness.
Another official said the forces are continuously refining methods to stay ahead and ensure the safety of civilians living near the border.
He added that maintaining dominance along the LoC is essential and troops remain committed to preserving peace through constant vigilance.
He said that the Jammu and Kashmir Police have strengthened security across border areas and tightened checks at entry and exit points to ensure effective area control.
The coordinated effort between the BSF, Indian Army, and local police aims to prevent any untoward incidents and ensure uninterrupted security for civilians during the festive season.
