Srinagar, Oct 28: The Traffic Police on Tuesday issued a traffic advisory restricting the upward movement of heavy and medium motor vehicles (HMVs/MMVs) from Jammu towards Srinagar on November 1 and 2, in view of the annual Dubar Move.
According to an advisory, there shall be no up-movement of goods carriers from Jammu towards Srinagar on the said dates, coinciding with the shifting of offices from Srinagar to Jammu for the winter season 2025–26.
However, the movement of light motor vehicles (LMVs) shall be allowed from both ends — from Jammu towards Srinagar and vice versa.
The advisory further said that the down-movement of HMVs/MMVs from the Valley towards Jammu will be allowed in a regulated manner, keeping in view the movement of secretariat employees and official records from Srinagar to Jammu.
The Traffic Police also advised goods carrier operators transporting fresh perishables and livestock to adhere strictly to advisories issued from time to time and plan their journeys accordingly.
The Durbar Move — a biannual practice of shifting the J&K government offices between Srinagar and Jammu was halted in 2021 but has been revived this year by the Omar Abdullah-led National Conference government this year. (KNO)
