Shopian, Nov 5: Chief Engineer, Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department, Rakesh Kumar, during his visit to several areas of Shopian, reaffirmed the department’s commitment to ensuring uninterrupted and safe drinking water supply to every household during the upcoming winter season.
Speaking to reporters, Rakesh Kumar said that all necessary arrangements have been made well in advance to deal with freezing temperatures and potential disruptions. “We are fully prepared for the winter. Our field teams are working round the clock to ensure that the people of Shopian continue to receive pure drinking water without interruption,” he stated.
The Chief Engineer inspected ongoing works at multiple sites and directed officers to ensure that all water supply schemes remain functional even in severe weather conditions. He also appreciated the efforts of the field staff and stressed on the importance of regular maintenance of pipelines and reservoirs.
MLA Shopian, Advocate Shabir Ahmad Kullay, who accompanied the Chief Engineer during the visit, said the government is determined to upgrade the district’s water supply infrastructure. “Several new projects are being launched to strengthen the network. The people of Shopian should rest assured that the administration is taking every possible step to ensure uninterrupted services during the harsh winter,” Kullay remarked.
Locals expressed satisfaction over the proactive efforts of the PHE Department and said they hoped the measures would ensure smooth water supply throughout the cold season. [KNT]
