Mendhar, Nov 27: A day after unveiling and laying foundation stones for developmental projects worth Rs 80 crore in Mankote Block, Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana, Thursday convened a comprehensive review meeting at Mendhar to assess the implementation roadmap for the same.
The Minister also assessed progress on several ongoing works across the division.
The meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioner Development, Assistant Commissioner Panchayat, Executive Engineers of Jal Shakti, PWD, PMGSY, REW and PDD, Deputy Chief Education Officer and the Block Development Officers of Mendhar, Balakote and Mankote who briefed the Minister on the status of various projects initiated under their respective departments.
The Minister emphasized that it is imperative that all the departments work in close coordination to ensure time-bound, transparent and quality-oriented execution of the sanctioned works. He underscored that projects related to road connectivity, drinking water supply, education infrastructure, public utilities and sports facilities carry immense importance for the socio-economic advancement of the people living in the remote and border belts of Mendhar subdivision. Any delays, he said, would directly impact public welfare.
Rana directed the officers to promptly identify and address bottlenecks, streamline tendering and administrative processes and maintain regular field supervision so that works progress efficiently on the ground. He also called for periodic joint reviews between the departments to tackle interlinked issues, especially those concerning land clearance, electricity shifting, water pipelines and road alignments.
To ensure accountability, the Minister instructed the officers to establish a strengthened monitoring mechanism involving weekly progress reports, on-site inspections and adherence to technical standards. He reiterated the government’s commitment towards maintaining the highest levels of transparency and quality in public works.
Rana reaffirmed that the developmental roadmap rolled out for Mendhar is part of a broader vision of the government led by Omar Abdullah, aimed at transforming the underserved and geographically challenging regions into vibrant and self-sustaining zones of growth. He added that the projects inaugurated and launched earlier represent only the first phase and further interventions would follow in a systematic manner to ensure that each village receives equitable attention in terms of infrastructure, services and opportunities.
Appreciating the dedication of field officers, the Minister asked them to remain accessible to the public and respond promptly to local needs and grievances.
