Baramulla, Dec 23: As part of the nationwide observance of Good Governance Week, Dr. G. N. Itoo, Director, Centre for Good Governance and Policy Analysis, Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) chaired a workshop on Good Governance Practices at the Main Meeting Hall of the DC Office, Baramulla.
The workshop was organised under the banner of “Prashasan Gaon Ki Ore”, a week-long outreach programme being observed from 19th to 25th December across all Panchayat Halqas of the district, with the objective of strengthening citizen-centric governance and effective service delivery.
In his welcome address, Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) Baramulla, Chaudhary Mudasir Hussain, highlighted the various outreach activities being undertaken across all the 402 Halqa Panchayats during Good Governance Week in the district.
Speaking during the workshop, Dr. G. N. Itoo appreciated the district administration for its proactive initiatives and committed efforts in promoting transparent and responsive governance.
Meanwhile, Dr. Itoo stated that the broader goal of Good Governance Week aligns with the national vision of Viksit Bharat, which requires the adoption and consistent implementation of best governance practices.
Furthermore, Dr. Itoo underscored that transparency is a cornerstone of good governance and emphasised that government officers must remain easily accessible to the public, enabling citizens to voice their grievances and participate meaningfully in the governance process.
The workshop witnessed interactive deliberations, during which officers from various departments shared valuable insights and perspectives on strengthening governance mechanisms at the district level.
During the workshop, DIO Baramulla, Iftakhar Ahmad, presented an overview of the newly conceptualized podcast series “Jhelum Se Chinab Tak”, highlighting its role as a technology-driven good governance initiative that facilitates direct outreach by Heads of Departments to improve public awareness, transparency and citizen participation.
The workshop concluded with a renewed commitment by all stakeholders to uphold the principles of transparency, accountability and citizen-centric administration in pursuit of effective and inclusive governance.
