DC Kupwara reviews progress of JJM schemes, implementation of SASCI scheme

Kupwara, Jan 3: Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Shrikant Suse, Saturday convened a series of meetings of concerned officers to review the status of Water Supply Schemes (WSS) under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) that have been granted extensions for completion, besides, reviewing implementation of SASCI scheme.
The meeting was attended by the Superintending Engineer, Hydraulic Circle Kupwara; Superintending Engineer, R&B; Chief Education Officer; Chief Planning Officer; Executive Engineer Jal Shakti and other concerned officers.
Reviewing the progress under JJM, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the need for concerted efforts and expedited execution of the pending works, directing officers to ensure completion of all incomplete projects within the revised timelines.
He also directed to Jal Shakti department to actively address issues regarding drinking water during ongoing winter.
In a separate meeting, the DC reviewed the implementation of the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) scheme in the district.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner directed all concerned departments to submit detailed proposals of works to be taken up under the SASCI scheme to ensure their timely execution. He emphasized that the projects proposed should be impact-oriented and aimed at improving the quality of life of the people in the district.
The Deputy Commissioner stressed that priority should be accorded to projects related to disaster mitigation.
He further instructed the officers to ensure that complete details of the proposed works are submitted within one week positively, enabling early approval and prompt execution of the projects under the scheme.
The meeting was attended by the Superintending Engineer, R&B Circle Kupwara; Superintending Engineer, Hydraulic Circle Kupwara; Chief Planning Officer; Assistant Commissioner Development; Chief Education Officer; Chief Animal Husbandry Officer; District Sheep Husbandry Officer, Divisional Forest Officers, Executive Engineers from PHE and R&B departments, along with other concerned officers.
