Baramulla, Jan 9: Two army porters and a soldier lost their lives after falling from a height in separate incidents in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Officials said that the bodies of two porters, identified as Layakat Ahmad Deedard and Ishfaq Ahmad Khatana, both residents of Chandoosa, were recovered following an extensive search operation.
The duo, officials said, had slipped into a nallah on Thursday evening while heading towards the forward Anita Post in Gulmarg heights.
Following the incident, rescue teams launched an overnight operation and retrieved the bodies after sustained efforts.
Meanwhile, in another incident, an Army soldier identified as Hira Lal, a resident of Haryana, posted at the Fathagard Sheeri Camp, died after slipping and falling from a height during night patrol duty in Sheeri area of the district.
He was immediately rushed to GMC Baramulla, where doctors declared him brought dead, an official said. (KNO)
