Functioning of ministers comes under scanner at CM’s meet with MLAs

New Delhi, Jan 14: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday praised the farming community as indispensable partners in nation-building, stating that their efforts are crucially strengthening the campaign for a self-reliant India. The Prime Minister reiterated his government’s unwavering commitment to empowering farmers.
Modi was speaking at a Pongal celebration hosted at the residence of Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Dr. L. Murugan.
In his address, PM Modi highlighted the festival’s significance as a celebration of Tamil culture, agrarian life, and harmony with nature.
“Pongal has evolved into a global festival that honours the tireless work of our farmers,” the Prime Minister said. He described it as an occasion to express gratitude to the land and the sun, noting that concurrent celebrations of Lohri, Makar Sankranti, and Magh Bihu across the country reinforce the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ (One India, Great India).
The Prime Minister emphasized that Pongal inspires a lifestyle where gratitude towards nature transcends mere words. “When the earth has provided abundant resources, it becomes our duty to preserve them,” he stated, stressing the importance of soil health, water conservation, and judicious resource use for future generations. He cited government initiatives such as Mission LiFE, ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’, and ‘Amrit Sarovar’ as embodiments of this ethos.
PM Modi also extolled the depth of Tamil culture, describing it not only as a shared national heritage but as a legacy for all humanity. “Tamil culture, one of the world’s oldest living civilisations, connects centuries—learning from history while guiding the present toward the future,” he said. He added that India draws enduring strength from such cultural roots to forge new possibilities.
In his remarks, Dr. Murugan expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister for participating in the festivities at his home. He extended his warm wishes to citizens on the occasions of Pongal and Makar Sankranti. (KNS)
