Functioning of ministers comes under scanner at CM’s meet with MLAs

Srinagar, Jan 21: Former Director General of Police (DGP) J&K, S.P. Vaid, on Wednesday said that an anti-terror operation had been underway for the past few days in the Chatroo area of Kishtwar, following inputs about three Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists being trapped in the region.
Speaking in a video message, Vaid said that during the operation, one soldier attained martyrdom while making the supreme sacrifice for the nation. He further said that in a grenade attack, eight people were injured, some of whom later succumbed to their injuries.
He said the operation reflects the exceptional courage and professionalism of the Army, J&K Police and other security forces. “Our forces are fighting with great bravery. Conducting operations in dense forests and difficult mountainous terrain, especially in severe weather conditions, is extremely challenging. I know how tough such operations are,” Vaid said.
The former DGP said that security forces also busted a terrorist hideout during the operation and recovered supplies, including a makeshift kitchen and bags of rice. “Such items cannot come directly from Pakistan. This indicates that there are a few elements within who are providing support. It is very important to identify and reach such people,” he said.
He stressed that while the armed forces play a crucial role, identifying local support networks is primarily the responsibility of the local police. “Reaching these links is essential to completely dismantle the terror ecosystem,” Vaid added. (CNS)
