Jammu, Feb 14: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has extended his heartiest greetings to the people on the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri, which will be celebrated tomorrow on February 15.
In a message, the Lieutenant Governor said: “On the sacred occasion of Mahashivratri, I extend my heartfelt greetings and best wishes to all. I pray for the health, happiness, and prosperity of every citizen.
The sacred festival, celebrated as ‘Herath’ by Kashmiri Pandit community, is a symbol of our spiritual tradition and communal harmony. Mahashivratri holds a place of profound significance in our life. The holy festival provides opportunity to pause and reflect the timeless virtues Lord Shiva exemplifies. The teaching Lord Shiva embodies is one of universal service. The holy festival reminds us that each person carries the responsibility to contribute to humanity’s wellbeing in the ways uniquely available to them.
May Lord Shiva continue to shower his divine blessings upon us. May this festival strengthen the bonds of brotherhood for years to come. Har Har Mahadev!”.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also extended his warm greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri.
In his message, the Chief Minister said that Mahashivratri is a sacred festival symbolising devotion, faith and spiritual awakening, and it inspires people to follow the path of righteousness, harmony and compassion.
“On the blessed occasion of Mahashivratri, I convey my heartfelt greetings and best wishes to all. May this sacred occasion bring peace, happiness and prosperity to every household,” the Chief Minister said.
The Chief Minister also prayed for strengthening the bonds of brotherhood, unity and communal harmony in Jammu and Kashmir, and wished that the festival may usher in progress and well-being for all.
Deputy Chief Minister, Surinder Choudhary, has also extended his warm greetings to the people on the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivratri.
In his message, he said that the festival holds immense religious significance and is celebrated with deep devotion, fervour and gaiety across Jammu and Kashmir.
Conveying his heartfelt wishes, the Deputy Chief Minister prayed for peace, prosperity and well-being of all, and emphasized the importance of love, unity and mutual respect among the people.
He urged everyone to imbibe the teachings of Lord Shiva and spread the message of harmony and brotherhood, asserting that Jammu and Kashmir has always stood for communal amity and togetherness.
Minister for Agriculture Production, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Cooperative and Election Department, Javid Ahmad Dar, has extended his warm greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivaratri.
In his message, the Minister conveyed heartfelt wishes to all citizens, especially the Kashmiri Pandit community, celebrating the sacred festival of Maha Shivaratri, locally known as Herath. He said that this auspicious occasion symbolizes devotion, faith, harmony and the triumph of righteousness.
Javid Dar expressed hope that the festival would usher in peace, prosperity and happiness for every household across the Union Territory. He emphasized that such festivals strengthen the bonds of brotherhood, communal harmony and mutual respect among diverse communities of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Minister further prayed for the well-being of the people and reiterated the government’s commitment towards inclusive development, rural prosperity, agricultural growth and strengthening grassroots democratic institutions.
He urged people to celebrate the occasion with traditional fervor while upholding the values of unity, compassion and social harmony.
Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education, Sakeena Itoo, also extended her warm greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri (Hearath).
In her greetings, the Minister said that Mahashivratri is a sacred festival and reflects the region’s centuries-old tradition of spiritual coexistence and mutual respect among diverse communities.
“On this holy occasion of Mahashivratri, I extend my heartfelt greetings to all, particularly to our Kashmiri Pandit brothers and sisters. Herath Poshte! May this auspicious day bring renewed hope, happiness and well-being to every household,” the Minister said.
Minister Sakeena added that such festivals provide an opportunity to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood and reinforce the spirit of unity that has long been the hallmark of Jammu and Kashmir’s composite culture.
The Minister also prayed for progress, prosperity and well being of the people of entire Jammu and Kashmir.
Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Information Technology, Youth Services and Sports, and Science and Technology, Satish Sharma extended his heartfelt greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri.
In his message, the Minister said that Mahashivratri holds profound spiritual significance and reflects the timeless values of devotion, self-reflection and inner strength. He noted that the sacred festival encourages people to embrace purity of thought, compassion and harmony in their lives.
Conveying his best wishes, the Minister expressed hope that the divine blessings of Lord Shiva bring peace, good health and prosperity to all families and inspire renewed hope and positivity in society.
Satish Sharma also prayed for lasting peace, unity and mutual respect among all communities, expressing confidence that the festival will further strengthen the spirit of togetherness and shared progress across the region.
He wished that the auspicious occasion brings happiness and spiritual enrichment to every home and contributes to the overall well-being and prosperity of the people. (Info)
