Baramulla, Mar 13: Residents of New Friends Colony, Kanispora Baramulla are facing serious difficulties due to a faulty drainage system in the area.
Locals said that the drainage network has become completely blocked, causing water accumulation on the roads and disrupting daily movement.
According to residents, school-going children are face major problems as they have to walk through waterlogged streets. Due to this situation, many students are sometimes unable to reach school on time.
Locals further said that the drainage system was constructed several years ago by the concerned department, but over time it has become completely clogged. They said the issue had earlier been brought to the notice of the Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, who had assured that the problem would be addressed soon. However, residents say no significant action has been taken so far.
The residents have once again appealed to the district administration, especially the Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, to look into the matter and ensure that the drainage system is repaired at the earliest so that the problems faced by the public can be resolved.
They added that stagnant water on the roads is also causing inconvenience to pedestrians, as vehicles passing through splash dirty water on them, often ruining their clothes. The residents expressed hope that the authorities will take swift action so that people in the area can finally get relief.
