Udhampur, Mar 13: Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Northern Command, on Friday visited the Basantgarh area of Udhampur district to assess the prevailing security situation and review ongoing security operations in the region, officials said.
During the visit, the Army Commander was briefed by senior officers about the ground situation and the measures taken to strengthen security deployment in the area.
Officials said the briefing focused on the coordinated intelligence grid and enhanced security arrangements aimed at maintaining stability in the region.
Senior officers also apprised the Army Commander about operational preparedness and the steps taken to ensure effective coordination among various agencies involved in maintaining security.
Officials said detailed discussions were held on reinforcing the security architecture in coordination with all stakeholders.
During his visit, Lt Gen Sharma also interacted with troops deployed in the area and commended them for their professionalism, commitment and dedication while carrying out their duties.
He appreciated the personnel for maintaining high standards of operational readiness and vigilance in challenging terrain and security conditions.
Later, the Army Commander chaired the weekly coordination meeting of stakeholders in Jammu to review the overall security scenario across the region.
Officials said the meeting focused on strengthening real-time intelligence sharing and improving coordination between different security agencies.
The deliberations also emphasised seamless integration of operational mechanisms to ensure swift response and maintain a mission-ready posture across Jammu and Kashmir.
Officials said the participating agencies reviewed the security roadmap and reiterated their commitment to maintaining stability and preventing security threats in the region. [KNT]
