Srinagar, Mar 25: The Jammu and Kashmir government has ordered the temporary deputation of 25 officers and officials as State Haj Inspectors for Haj 2026 to the Consulate General of India in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, according to an official order.
The selection has been made by the Haj Committee of India, Mumbai, with the deputed personnel tasked with assisting pilgrims from the Union Territory during the annual pilgrimage.
The order, issued by the General Administration Department (GAD) on March 24, states that the selected officers belong to various departments including School Education, Revenue, Power Development, Finance, Health and Medical Education, and Industries and Commerce.
Among those deputed are Gulzar Bin Rehman, a Block Development Officer; Mohammed Irfan, Assistant Accounts Officer; Dr. Rouf-ul-Haq, Technical Officer; and several teachers and engineers from different departments.
The officials will be stationed at the Consulate General of India in Jeddah, where they will facilitate coordination, provide assistance to pilgrims, and help address issues faced during the Haj period.
“It is hereby ordered that the Administrative Secretaries and Heads of Departments shall relieve the above officers immediately,” the order stated, enabling them to report to the J&K Haj Committee at Haj House, Bemina, Srinagar, after completing required formalities.
The deputation is subject to the fulfilment of procedures prescribed for foreign assignments, including clearances and documentation.
The annual Haj pilgrimage sees thousands of pilgrims from Jammu and Kashmir travelling to Saudi Arabia, with designated officials deployed each year to ensure logistical support, coordination and welfare assistance. [KNT]
