ACC clears major bureaucratic reshuffle, several IAS officers appointed as Secretaries

New Delhi, Mar 31: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved a series of senior-level bureaucratic appointments and elevations across multiple ministries, according to official orders issued by the Department of Personnel and Training.
The appointments involve several Indian Administrative Service officers being posted or elevated to key positions, including Secretaries and Additional Secretaries in the Government of India.
The development is significant as it reshapes the top administrative structure across ministries, impacting policy implementation and governance.
Among the key appointments, Nivedita Shukla Verma has been posted as Secretary in the Department of Chemicals and Petro-Chemicals, with additional charge of the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances and Department of Pensions and Pensioners’ Welfare.
Chanchal Kumar has been appointed Secretary in the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region, while Narendra Bhooshan has been posted as Secretary, Department of Land Resources.
Anuradha Thakur has been appointed Secretary, Ministry of Minority Affairs, and will also serve as Chief Executive Officer of the National Rainfed Area Authority.
Rajiv Gauba Jaju has been named Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, while V. Srinivas Krishna has been appointed Secretary, Ministry of Tourism.
The ACC also approved appointments of several officers as Additional Secretaries across ministries including Home Affairs, Finance, Commerce and Industry, Health and Family Welfare, and Environment, Forest and Climate Change.
In addition, certain officers have been granted Secretary-level rank in situ, while others have been temporarily upgraded to fill vacant positions.
Officials said the reshuffle also includes postings linked to superannuation of incumbent officers and administrative requirements.
The orders take immediate effect, with ministries expected to see transitions in leadership in the coming weeks. [KNT]
