Pulwama, Apr 29: The Department of Biotechnology, Govt Degree College, Pulwama Wednesdat organized a day long programme to mark the International Day of Immunology on the theme “Regulatory T Cells: Guardians of Immune Balance” focusing on understanding the role in shaping approach to combat cancer, infection and autoimmune disease.
The program began with a welcome address by Principal, GDC Pulwama highlighted the importance of immunology in understanding disease mechanisms and advancing modern healthcare.
This was followed by an overview of the programme presented by Dr. Niyaz Ahmad Naikoo, Head, Department of Biotechnology, who emphasized the relevance of regulatory T cells in maintaining immune homeostasis.
The key note speaker Dr. Pervaiz A. Dar from SKUAST spoke on ‘CAR T Regulatory Cells (CAR-Tregs): Concepts and Clinical Potenti’.
Post tea session included two lectures by Dr. Suhail Yousuf and Dr. Shahid Banday from IUST on ‘Tregs; the Immune System’s Double-Edged Sword’ and ‘Reprogramming Immunity: Turning Immune Cells into Living Drugs’ respectively.
The talks elaborated on the dual role of regulatory T cells in immune suppression and disease progression and cutting-edge advancements in immunotherapy.
An interactive Immunology Quiz was held conducted by Dr. Shah Ubaid Ullah via Kahoot platform which witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, promoting scientific curiosity and engagement. Program proceedings were conducted by Suraya Qadir. The program witnessed wide participation by the students, paramedical students and faculty members.
