Srinagar, May 16: A Committee for establishment of Additional District and Session Court Chadoora led by its chairperson Advocate AR Hanjoora Saturday called on Speaker Legislative Assembly, Abdul Rahim Rather with a demand to establish an Additional District and Session Court at Chadoora.
The delegation highlighted severe hardships faced by the locals due to absence of a higher-level court in the area. Chadoora, which comprises of three vast tehsils, is currently burdened with a heavy backlog of litigations. As a result, the residents and the legal professionals are forced to travel nearly 60 kilometers to the District Court in Budgam for ordinary legal proceedings.
The Committee apprised the Speaker that Chadoora represents a massive population base that generates significant legal volume. The sheer volume of pending litigations justifies a localized court to de-congest the main Budgam District Court and speed up the judicial process.
The Committee also impressed upon the Speaker to get the funds released for construction of new building of the Munsiff and Sub-judge court complex which is long-pending due and DPR stands prepared already.
The Speaker listened patiently to the issues presented by the Committee. Acknowledging the merits of the case, the Speaker assured the Committee that the matter would be taken up with the concerned authorities immediately to ensure an early redressal of the genuine grievance.
The Speaker emphasized that establishing this court is not just an administrative convenience but a critical step toward ensuring “justice at the doorsteps” for the people of Chadoora.
The delegation included Advocate Waseem Rasool Mir, Convenor of the Committee, Advocate G.M Baba, Advocate Javaid Iqbal Dar, Advocate Nasir Dar, Advocate Iliyas Dangroo, Advocate Firdous Ahmed and Advocate Javaid Iqbal.
