Public Outreach Programme held at Magam Budgam

DC focuses on civic development, public welfare, grassroots governance

Budgam, May 26: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Athar Aamir Khan, Tuesday chaired a Mega Public Outreach Programme at Town Hall, Magam.
The outreach programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from prominent citizens, traders, Ex-PRI members, former councillors and residents from Kanihama, Watamagam, Shippora, Makhama, Burden, SK Pora, Panchas, Narbal, Mazhama, Batapora and several adjoining areas, who projected a range of developmental concerns and public grievances before the district administration.
During the interaction, the participants highlighted several pressing issues related to infrastructure development, civic amenities and public welfare. Among the major concerns raised were drinking water scarcity Some localities, immediate macadamization of roads, to improve connectivity and commuter safety, and the need for uninterrupted power supply along with installation of dedicated electricity meters for better load management.
The locals also demanded establishment of designated parking spaces to decongest the main market area, installation of additional streetlights to facilitate smooth business activities during evening hours, construction of public washroom facilities for tourists and shopkeepers, and strengthening of sanitation and drainage systems.
Concerns regarding the increasing stray dog menace were also brought into notice during the programme.
Addressing the gathering, the DC Said the District administration is committed towards the holistic and planned development of Magam Town and adjoining areas.
He assured the participants that all genuine grievances and developmental demands would be addressed in a phased and time-bound manner.
He further stressed the importance of coordinated efforts between the administration and the public for effective execution of developmental works.
The DC urged the citizens to actively cooperate with line departments in maintaining cleanliness, proper waste disposal practices and safeguarding public assets for sustainable development of the area.
On the occasion, the DC also Calls for Collective Efforts towards building a drug-free society. He further called upon parents, teachers, religious leaders, civil society members and community representatives to join hands with the administration in building a drug-free society.
The DC urged the youth to channelize their energies towards education, sports and constructive activities, stating that safeguarding the younger generation from the menace of drugs is a shared responsibility of every section of society.
Later, the DC also visited Markazi Imambara Magam to take stock of the arrangements being put in place for the forthcoming observance of Muharram-ul-Haram.
During the visit, he inspected facilities related to sanitation, drinking water, electricity, traffic management and other essential services at the venue.
He directed all concerned departments to ensure seamless coordination and adequate arrangements for the convenience of devotees and smooth conduct of religious gatherings during the holy month.
Senior officers including ADDC Budgam, Vivek Agarwal; SDM Beerwah,Toufeeq Gazi; CPO Budgam, Javeed Ahmad Najar, ACP, Executive Engineers of various engineering wings, district officers from Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry, Health, Rural Development and other concerned departments were present on the occasion and took note of the grievances and issues raised by the public for prompt redressal.
