Army foils exfiltration bid in Uri, POJK intruder among three held

Srinagar, May 31: The Army on Sunday said that it foiled an exfiltration attempt in Uri sector of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district and apprehended three individuals, including two residents of Sopore, during a joint operation with Jammu and Kashmir Police.
In a post on X, Chinar Corps of the Indian Army, as per news agency JKNS, said that a joint search operation was launched in the general area of Uri following specific intelligence inputs.
The Army said two individuals from Sopore were apprehended by troops while allegedly attempting to exfiltrate through the Uri sector along with their accomplice guide.
“Based on specific intelligence input, a joint search operation was launched by Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police in the general area of Uri, Baramulla. Two individuals from Sopore were apprehended by vigilant Chinar Warriors while attempting exfiltration in Uri Sector with inimical intent along with their accomplice guide. Further probe is underway,” the Army said.
In a separate statement, the Chinar Corps said that a PoJK intruder was also apprehended after being intercepted while crossing the Line of Control in the Uri sector.
According to the Army, alert troops challenged the intruder and apprehended him without causing harm.
“A PoJK intruder has been apprehended, who was intercepted by alert Chinar Warriors while crossing the Line of Control in Uri Sector. The vigilant troops maintained restraint while challenging the intruder and surgically apprehended the individual. The intruder has been handed over to Jammu and Kashmir Police for further legal proceedings,” the Army said.
The incidents come amid heightened security measures along the Line of Control, with security agencies continuing investigations into both cases. (JKNS)
