Pulwama, Jun 18: The Jammu and Kashmir Public Works Department (PWD) has initiated the process for restoration of the Arihal-Sheikhpora-Lassipora Arihal Khamri road by issuing an e-tender for execution of the project, which has been estimated to cost over Rs 2.08 crore.
According to the information provided by MLA Pulwama Waheed Ur Rehman Para, the project falls under flood restoration works and carries an estimated cost of Rs 208.45 lakh, including applicable taxes. The road restoration project is aimed at repairing and rebuilding infrastructure damaged due to floods and other weather-related factors.
The work has been categorized under Class AAY contractors and is stipulated to be completed within 60 days from the date of allotment.
Officials said the bidding process commenced on June 18, with online downloading and submission of tender documents beginning the same day. The last date for submission of bids has been fixed as July 14, while bids will be opened on July 15 at the office of the Superintending Engineer, PWD (R&B) Circle Pulwama-Shopian.
The road serves several habitations in the area and its restoration is expected to improve connectivity for local residents, facilitate movement of goods and services and address long-standing concerns arising from damaged road infrastructure.
The tendering process marks the formal start of efforts to restore the affected road corridor, which is considered an important link for villages falling along the Arihal, Sheikhpora and Lassipora belt. [KNT]
