Ganderbal, Jun 22: The annual Kheer Bhawani Mela at Tulmulla in Ganderbal district on Monday witnessed heartwarming scenes of communal harmony as local Muslims extended support and assistance to Kashmiri Pandit devotees visiting the revered shrine.
According to reports, hundreds of local residents volunteered to help pilgrims by guiding them, arranging drinking water, assisting elderly devotees and facilitating smooth movement in and around the temple premises. The gesture was widely appreciated by the visiting devotees, who described it as a reflection of Kashmir’s centuries-old tradition of brotherhood and coexistence.
Several devotees said the warm welcome and support from local Muslims strengthened their emotional bond with their homeland and revived memories of shared cultural traditions.
A local resident Manzoor Ahmad Wani said that the Kheer Bhawani Mela is not only a religious occasion but also an opportunity to uphold the values of mutual respect and communal harmony that have long been associated with Kashmiriyat.
The annual mela, observed on the auspicious occasion of Jyeshtha Ashtami, witnessed participation of thousands of devotees from Jammu and Kashmir and other parts of the country amid elaborate arrangements by the administration. The atmosphere at the shrine remained festive, with devotees offering prayers for peace, prosperity and brotherhood. (KNO)
